Press Release on House Tour Fundraiser

Short Hills House Tour Benefiting Millburn Township Special Services and Promoting Autism Acceptance

buy $40 Tickets here

Was:  April 29th from 11am - 1pm

Now: Sunday, May 7th from 11am - 1pm

Did you know autism affects 1 in 34 New Jersey children?

Usually during April in honor of World Autism Month, Melanie Rosenbaum with Compass, selects a number of architecturally unique homes to participate in the annual Short Hills House Tour.  She has helmed this exciting event since 2013; THE TENTH TOUR!  She believes the event highlights Short Hills real estate, architectural beauty, and the welcoming vibe of the Millburn Township community.

Listing agents of the well-appointed homes with an average price of $3m, open their doors to ticket holders for a glance indoors. The event, which runs like fancy open houses, is so much more.  Once inside the homes, participants, with a $40 ticket, receive a light lunch, treats, swag bags for the first 40 people, and/or giveaways while touring beautiful architectural designs of local available homes, historic homes, and new construction homes.  This year, Greenwood Gardens, Cora Hartshorn, and Christopher Peacock will be participating in some wonderful ways too.

Did you know that a business man named Stewart Hartshorn developed more than just 80 homes in Short Hills?  Did you know his wife’s name was Cora?

The Cora Hartshorn Arboretum will be inviting participants into the original building of the arboretum, and will share history of Short Hills, and Stewart Hartshorn's journey.  Participants will finish up the tour at the Christopher Peacock's Kitchen Design Studio, as they enter they will be welcomed with coffee and dessert complements of Antoinette Fraser, Director of Design. Of course we will have delicious cookies, donated by Splurge.  The tour goers will get the chance to see one of Stewart Hartshorn‘s historic houses, hosted by listing agent Elyse Wolfe of Compass.  She has a gift for the participants too!

With so many wonderful events going on in town, on the same day as the tour, we created a way to bring us all together.  The Greenwood Gardens is having their opening weekend; they are offering tour participants complimentary tickets for the day.  People can head to the gardens anytime until 3pm.

The proceeds of this fun event will benefit Millburn Township Special Services Department by providing the opportunity for key district professionals to attend all of the Autism NJ conferences.  The official state Autism organization educates parents and professionals on critical topics with evidence-based information and resources. Additionally, the money raised will help support The Unified Club at MHS and the MHS Job Training Program, which helps students attain the necessary skills to become as independent as possible in the workplace.

Short Hills resident, Seda Karvan, attended last year and says, "I got an email from Millburn Special Education, and I didn't realize it was such a nice event. To be honest, I love it."  Come see the spirit of Millburn in action. It's a unique and beautiful municipality that supports the collaboration of residents and professional community members who seek to make a difference keeping the township strong.

Mark your calendars for Sunday, May 6th from 11am - 1pm for this special fundraising open house time and day, in honor of World Autism Month.  Buy tickets here, or for more information please contact the tour organizer, Melanie Rosenbaum at (973) 768-1818 or [email protected].

If you are unable to attend this event, consider buying a ticket anyway as a gift to our schools.
