Westfield

Township Information

Westfield is a town in Union County with a population of over 30,000. The old village area, now the downtown district, was settled in 1720 and originally formed a township in 1794. Westfield's downtown features local and national stores, as well as restaurants, to create a pleasant shopping environment.

Westfield Public library

The Westfield Memorial Library was founded in 1873. It is located in a Williamsburg-style building at 550 E Broad St. and has a collection of over 250,000 books, two dozen public computers, an array of multimedia options, a large youth services area with a vivid mural of Westfield's history, and multiple tables for studying. The library offers classes to adults and children. 
 

Westfield School System

Westfield's school district teaches students from kindergarten to 12th grade. There is a central kindergarten through 5th-grade elementary school, two 6th-8th grade middle schools divided by a "North Side" and "South Side" boundary, and a single High School. There is also a Catholic School called Holy Trinity Interparochial School, run by three parishes that teach students from pre-kindergarten to 8th grade.

Recreation

Westfield hosts a wide variety of recreational activities. There is a public pool with a diving board, kiddie pool, and concession/picnic area. There is also a "Rec Room" which has enrichment programs, sports programs, and more for children and adults. The Recreation Department also offers Senior Transportation Services and special events such as the Westfield Road Race and Fun Run, Family Fun Night, Daddy-Daughter dance, bowling night, and more. Westfield is also home to make parks and recreational facilities throughout towns such as sports areas and playgrounds.
